Fri 7 Aug:

League Cup Final - Wilton Pk.

Abercorn 1-0 Lincoln Courts

(Cassidy)

Supplementary Cup Final - Vale Centre

Limavady 1-0 City Colts

(Dallas)

Thurs 30 July:

Lincoln Courts 3-3 Abercorn

Wallace 2, Docherty for Lincoln.O'Neill 2, Harkin for Abercorn.

A tremendous result for Lincoln who secure second place in the league and a place in next Friday's League Cup Final against table-toppers Abercorn.

Mon 27 July:

City Colts  0-4  Abercorn (Villa 2, Cassidy, O'Neill)

Abercorn strolled to an easy 4-0 win over a very lacklustre City Colts, who haven't gone down without a fight all season. Best wishes to Gary Irwin who broke his shin (ouch!) during the game.

Limavady  0-3  Lincoln Courts (McIntosh, Wallace, Edgar)

Bit of an upset here folks for a Limavady side who beat league leaders Abercorn on their last run out. Lincoln deserved all 3 points and could move up to 2nd place with a home win on Thursday night.

Tue 21 July:

Limavady Victors 1-1  City Colts

(Tosh)                         (Irwin)

Wed 15 July:

Abercorn  2-3  Limavady Victors

Limavady Victors certainly lived up to their name with a surprise away victory over table-toppers Abercorn. Indeed new boys Limavady (although I'd say a few of them haven't been called 'new boys' in a while!) took an early 2-0 lead through former Lincoln man Wilson Tosh. But Abercorn have quality throughout their team and came back into the game with goals from Villa & O'Donnell. However, Limavady secured the 3 points with Tosh's hat-trick. Asked for a post-match comment, Abercorn's Jim Norris fumed "Missed enough chances for 3 matches! Missed penalty! Too much cryin! Etc., etc." Limavady, under the stewardship of Graham Anderson, have certainly made a lot of people sit up and take notice with consistantly good results all season and look set for a place in the League Cup final.

Tue 14 July:

City Colts 3-1 Lincoln Courts

With the rain lashing at the Vale Centre, both teams took to the pitch in their arm bands and speedos. The Colts took an early lead through the speedy White, and held a 1-0 at half-time. The second half was a fairly even affair with both teams playing attacking football. The prolific Hen Moore doubled the Colts' lead on 50 minutes and O'Connor sealled the victory with their third. However, Lincoln hadn't finished yet and ended the game very strongly with a goal from Stephenson and if an over-head kick from McKnight had not have hit the bar there could have been a different outcome.

Mon 6 July

Lincoln Courts v Lettershandoney

Lincoln get the points as LSD couldn't field a side. Grim days for the Veterans Football League!

Mon 29 June

Abercorn  2 -0  City Colts

(Cassidy, 2)

A mighty crowd gathered at the Vale Centre (well, there was one spectator and I think he was just out for a walk) to see League leaders Abercorn entertain bottom club City Colts. The Colts began the better of the two teams with Canning & Doherty influential in midfield, but it was Abercorn who grabbed an early lead after a deft lob of the 'keeper from Pip Cassidy. The game continued in a very competitive manner with some decent football and a few tastey tackles threw in for good measure (I include my own yellow-carded foul in the 'tastey tackle' catagory). Referee John Crossan never let the game get out of hand, and to be fair it was a very enjoyable night in the rarified heat of Greysteel. A rocket free kick from Cassidy put Abercorn 2-0 up and ended the game as a contest. Abercorn's 100% winning record continues, as does City Colt's 100% losing record. However, I have been given the dreaded vote of confidence from the board after the game last night...

Thurs 25 June

Abercorn  v  River Inn

Game cancelled as River Inn have pulled out of league, unfortunately. "My heart's broken runnin after boys" said River chief, Stephen Cross. All other managers nod in agreement...

Wed 24 June

Limavady  v  Lettershandoney

Limavady's good season continues as they take all 3 points,  LSD could not field a side. Rumour has it that Damian Harkin has his side out in La Manga for warm weather training.

Tue 23 June

Lincoln Courts  2-1  City Colts

(Crumley, Docherty)  (Clifford)

A very entertaining & competitive game at Wilton Park was enjoyed by a sizable crowd at the Costa Del Waterside. Brian Crumley gave Lincoln an early lead when he was the first to react to a rebounded shot. City Colts were slowly coming back into the game in the second half despite having no subs in the stifling hot conditions. Victor Doc won the game for the home side with an excellent strike from 20 yards into the corner of the net. With a man short at this stage City Colts still battled gamely and were rewarded when Martin Clifford volleyed in their first goal. Do you remember that goal David Platt scored for England when he turn 180 degrees and lashed the ball into the back of the net? Martin assures me his was similar, but better.

 Wed 17 June

Lincoln Courts  2-0  River Inn

(Doherty, Mitchell)

Mon 15 June

Lettershandoney  5-3  City Colts

(McGroarty 2, Deery,  (O'Connor, Moore, O'Connor)

O'Connor, McGonigle)

There was a glorious setting for this enthralling game at the Costa Del Lettershandoney, with plenty of sunshine and even more sand on the pitch than the beach. The game was end to end for 60 minutes when the score was 3-3, with the Colts playing with the ball on the floor and the LSD preferring the aerial route. However, the away side seemed to run out of steam and the home's sides continuous route one approach finally broke down City Colts tiring defense. A rocket of a free kick from deery with 5 minutes to go confirmed the 3 points for LSD.

Limavady 1-3  Abercorn

(Dallas)           (Cassidy, O'Donnell, Heany)

Abercorn left Limavady with their 100% record in tact, thanks to goals from the the ever reliable Cassidy & O'Donnell.

Wed 10 June

City Colts  2-3  Limavady Victors

(White, Devlin)    (Cooke, Painter, Butcher)

Another tight end to end game with new boys Limavady securing all 3 points with the last kick of the game.

LSD  3-1  River Inn

(O.Connor,McGroarty,Quigg)   (McCrystal)

With River struggling for players LSD came flying out of the blocks taking a 3-0 first half lead and secure their first ponts of the season. River Inn came back into and gave a good account of themselves in the 2nd half with a goal from McCrystal, but by that stage the game was over. The artist formerly known as 'The Cat' Damian Harkin assures me he would have scored a couple if it hadn't have been for the woodwork.

Mon 8 June

Abercorn  4-0  Lincoln Courts

(O'Donnell, Francis, Nicholl, McGowan)

Saw 15 minutes of this game and it seemed an even enough affair, with Abercorn far more lethal in the final third of the pitch.
